About MCMP
MCMP (Mixed Community Mentorship Program) is a one-to-one mentorship program for the Andover mixed heritage community. This program was founded in the Spring of 2020 by Addie Allen ‘21, Esme Huh ‘22, Camila McGinley ‘23, and Ms. Murata P ‘19, ‘21.
Our goal for this program is to help mixed-heritage students transition to and find community at Phillips Academy, strengthen our mixed-heritage community, allow mixed-heritage individuals to both find and give support to one another, and give mixed-heritage students a space to form close connections.
In our program, an upperclassmen mentor will be paired with a 9th grader, 10th grader, or new student mentee. Our mentors are kind, responsible, knowledgeable, respectful leaders. They are here to support their mentee through the complex matter of being mixed-heritage. Individual Mentor-Mentee pairs connect on a bi-weekly basis outside of the monthly group meetings. Some things pairings have done are grab a meal at Commons, gone downtown, had movie nights, gone to an affinity space together, walked around campus, & more fun stuff!!
In addition, we have monthly meetings as a group to help mixed-heritage students meet each other and create a strong MCMP community. Some group meetings we have had in the past were game night, MHAW (Mixed Heritage Awareness Week), Photo Essay discussion, Mixed-Heritage Black Leaders History, Trivia Night, Tips for finals week, Mixed during the Holidays, Icebreaker Night, Speed Pairing & more!
